GiveNOLA Day is a 24-hour event hosted by the Greater New Orleans Foundation to inspire people to give generously to nonprofits making our region stronger, creating a thriving community for all.
WHAT IS GIVENOLA DAY?
GiveNOLA Day, hosted by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, is a one-day online giving event to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations that are making our region stronger, creating a thriving community for all. GiveNOLA Day raises money for the community, brings new donors to local nonprofits, and shows anyone can be a philanthropist. Anyone can make a tax deductible donation to a nonprofit that has created a profile on GiveNOLA.org. The minimum gift is $10 and there is no maximum size or number of donations you can make.
In its inaugural year, more than $2.2 million was raised for more than 300 participating nonprofits from more than 19,000 donors on GiveNOLA Day. In its second year, more than $4 million was raised from nearly 35,000 gifts for 571 nonprofits.
WHY GIVE AS PART OF GIVENOLA DAY?
Every dollar donated from 12:01am to midnight on GiveNOLA.org will be stretched with additional “lagniappe” dollars provided by the Greater New Orleans Foundation and our generous GiveNOLA Day sponsors. The Lagniappe Fund is distributed among each participating nonprofit, with each receiving a proportional share of this fund based upon its percentage of total dollars raised. For example, if a nonprofit receives five percent of the total donations raised during GiveNOLA Day, it will receive an additional five percent of the total Lagniappe Fund amount.
HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION GOES TO THE NONPROFIT?
All of your donation will go directly to the nonprofit except for nominal processing and credit card fees. The Greater New Orleans Foundation does not receive any fees from GiveNOLA Day. It helps fulfill our mission to connect donors to community needs.
